Types of Treatments

Liquid Termite Treatment
A liquid termite treatment is generally recommended if a client will be living in the home for a short period of time and if there are no environmental safety concerns around the home that make the use of chemicals unsafe.  This type of treatment is a good option if there is an active infestation.  RIA uses Termidor for a liquid termite treatment.  Termidor is made from a revolutionary new nonrepellent or "undetectable" chemical technology treatment. That means termites cannot see, smell, taste or avoid Termidor. Instead they contact, ingest, and share it with their nestmates.  After Termidor is applied, termites that contact it transfer the chemical to every other termite they in turn contact in a unique process called the "Transfer Effect." And because Termidor is engineered to be slow-acting, termites have ample time to spread it throughout their entire termite population.

The initial liquid treatment will be guaranteed for six years for a repair/retreat protection plan and up to ten years for a retreat only protection plan, provided annual renewal fees are paid.  RIA will schedule a renewal inspection once a year to visually inspect the property to assure termites have not returned at which time renewal fees are due.  If any termites are found during the guaranteed time, our technician will retreat your house for free.  If renewal fees are not paid, the guarantee is nullified.  At the end of the guaranteed time, an additional treatment is required.

Bait Termite Treatment

A bait system is RIA’s recommendation if a client plans to stay in the home for a longer period of time and wants a cleaner, more environmentally-friendly termite protection.  RIA uses Advance Bait Stations for this type of treatment.  Advance is being noted as the next generation bait station due to its patented dual-stage, two food source design.  Bait stations are installed at ground level every 10-15 feet around the exterior perimeter of the home with the caps locked into position to prevent tampering.  The stations are loaded with cellulose material that termites forage.  During quarterly monitoring, RIA checks to see if any termites are eating the cellulose.  If termites are found, the cellulose is replaced with an active ingredient cartridge to destroy the termites.  As they feed on the bait cartridge, they take the chemical back to their nest mates to destroy the colony.  The bait system comes with a lifetime guarantee as long as the annual renewal fees are paid.  If renewal fees are not paid, the lifetime guarantee is nullified.

Types of Protection Plans

Retreat Only
RIA offers a retreat only protection plan that guarantees if your home gets termites after RIA completes a termite treatment, then RIA will come out and retreat those areas of infestation for free.  Annual renewal fees are required to continue the protection, as is an annual inspection by RIA.

Repair and Retreat
Not all homes qualify for repair and retreat homes; your inspector will let you know if a particular property qualifies.  RIA’s Repair and Retreat protection plan guarantees if your home gets termites after RIA completes a termite treatment, then RIA will retreat the areas of infestation for free, as well as replace any damage done by termites.  Our repair plan does not have a deductible and guarantees up to $25,000 per occurrence.  Annual renewal fees are required to continue the protection, as is an annual inspection by RIA.

Termite Free Plan
RIA now offers a termite-free protection plan.  There are strict requirements for homes that are eligible for the Termite Free Protection Plan and your inspector will let you know if a particular property qualifies.  No treatment is necessary for this plan, it is more of a termite insurance plan.  This protection plan is a repair and retreat guarantee that if termites infest after the contract is signed, RIA will replace any damage and treat the areas of infestation for free.  An annual inspection and renewal fees are required to continue this protection plan.

Frequently Asked Termite Questions

Is the homeowner or the buyer responsible for getting a termite treatment?
This depends on the nature of your contract and negotiations with the current homeowner.  Either party can be responsible for getting the home protected from termites.  Our termite protection plans can be transferred from the buyer to the seller, with no additional fees.

What are conducive conditions for termites and why do I need to correct them?
There are definitely conditions that make your house more accessible to termites.  Moisture problems, wood to ground contact, ventilation problems, and excessive cellulose debris can lead to termite infestation.  If you have any of these problems in your home, even a liquid treatment or bait system may not prevent or eliminate termite infestation.  Our inspector will make recommendations on conducive conditions that should be corrected.

When is the best time to treat for termites?
The best time to treat for termites is before they infest your home.  Termite control is a continuous process and a treatment or bait system should be in place to deter infestation and to protect your home from damage that termites can cause.

Your inspector said my house does not have any active termites, so why do I need your services?
Our inspectors note any past or active infestations, but cannot guarantee that your house will not have any future termites.  You still need to protect your biggest investment.  Our inspector will recommend a bait or liquid system that is right for your house and that will prevent any future damage to your home.

Will all termites be eliminated immediately after the treatment is completed?

Subterranean termite control is not immediate.  Control and/or colony elimination may take several months.  Treatment is necessary to prevent further termite activity, as well as eliminate any current colonies.
